(University of Vienna)

Type:
Lecture
Speech: English

Increasing the scale and speed of analysis is a major goal in modern analytical sciences so far underrepresented in atomic spectroscopy. The presentation will cover three application areas of novel high throughput elemental analysis enabled by ICP-QQQ-MS and ICP-TOF-MS. The presented approaches meet the requirements of state of the art biological applications (e.g. (pre)clinical practise), which are high degree of automation, short analysis times, low sample volumes and minimum sample preparation. More specifically, multi-elemental and isotopic analysis methods in biological fluids with acquisition times of < 0.5 min omitting sample preparation will be presented, next to rapid elemental speciation methods (chromatographic separation within few minutes) and high resolution elemental imaging approaches (20 min measurement time).
