Genotyping assays are essential in a variety of human, animal agricultural applications. While microarrays and endpoint PCR assays have been traditionally employed for these purposes, these methods lack contextual data of surrounding genomic regions, are limited to single nucleotide variants, and produce data with high false-positive calls. Target enrichment combined with next-generation sequencing is a compelling alternative that provides more complete genomic information along with the ability to disciver newly introduced variants.

However, so far the high-costs and limited sample throughput of existing target enrichment strategies have made this approach largely inaccessible for genotyping workflows.

During this presentation, we will discuss the automated NEBNext Direct Genotyping Solution, which enables highly multiplexed sample processing to provide a tractable and cost-effective targeted NGS method for human, plant, and animal genotyping applications, such as Marker assisted breeding, quantitative trait locus (QTL) screening, mouse genotyping, livestock breeding, biobanking and NGS sample tracking.

Björn Textor joined New  England Biolabs GmbH 2008 and is now Senior Application Specialist. He is responsible for NEB's Libarary Preperation offering for Next Generation Sequencing supporting customer's in Central Europe as well as implementing new technologies into the market. Björn Textor holds a PhD in Cellular Biology from the University of Heidelberg in conjugation with the German Cancer Research Centre where he studied the role of AP-1 transcription factors in Tumour Angiogenesis.
