Performance and reproducibility in lab workflows - despite of progresses made in automation and lab informatics so far - is often hindered by insufficient integration of devices and data or tedious work of bringing all the information together.
A middleware connecting lab devices and higher-level enterprise software systems enables digitalization in the first place In addition to device integration as such, process data and result data from heterogenous sources are consolidated and administered by a powerful database for further processing of data within the lab itself or for delivery of final results to a LIMS.
In this talk the use of middleware and resulting benefits in different user scenarios will be evaluated.
